Paola Padron's Ideal Studio

 Convergent Versus Divergent Thinking

Convergent thinking focuses on finding one well-defined solution to a problem. It's best to use convergent thinking in situations where logic is more important than creativity. It allows teams to waste less time thinking about solutions and more time doing what really matters. Convergent thinking is related to low levels of dopamine. This type of thinking leaves no room for uncertainty.

Divergent thinking is the opposite of convergent thinking and involves more creativity. Divergent thinking allows us to generate new and original solutions to problems.

Therefore, divergent thinking is best for the classroom, in my opinion. Divergent thinking opens possibilities of innovative ways to solve more complex problems, overcoming the tendency of many learners to only work within the confinements that teachers may place. Divergent thinking can be achieved when dopamine levels are increased, as it allows for feelings of stress and anxiety to decrease. When students feel stressed and anxious, they are not able to brainstorm, and instead, stay within the confinements.

However, in order to succeed, both convergent and divergent thinking is needed.

My Ideal Studio

My ideal studio will be located in South Miami. The name of the studio will be NXT LVL. The studio's colors will be clean and aesthetic (mostly grey, white, and black). Students will be able to wear whichever uniform they are most comfortable in, but it must be either black or gray. The studio will be clean and well-maintained at all time. There will be at least 5 dance rooms that will be spacious and with mirrors covering one entire wall. All dance studios will have "sprung" or "floating" floors to prevent shocks from jumping, lunging, and other movements, protecting students' joints from injury.

My studio will offer classes to girls and boys of ages 3-18. The studio will encourage diversity and inclusion. Our studio will offer all types of dance classes, ranging from ballet, to hip-hop, to jazz, to tap, etc.. The dance studio will offer both private instructions as well as multi-level group clases. My studio will use a level system to track progress.

The studio staff will always be kind, courteous, supportive, and encouraging to all stuednts and parents. Since learning to dance can be a very nerve-wracking process, patient and caring teachers are a must. Instructors must be certiifed by accredited organizations like DVIDA.
